There you are, arriving on the promised island of Ibiza. After months or weeks of anticipation, the vacation has finally begun! Full of curiosity, you make your first meters on the island. Obviously, you don’t want to miss anything. Besides the beautiful beaches and famous restaurants, there is plenty to explore. Therefore, we have written down for you some unique sights that you should definitely not miss during your stay on the island. There are of course many more fun sights to see, but in this article we will limit ourselves to some real tips you might not have considered before.

    Overview of sights on Ibiza

1: The highest viewpoint in Ibiza

This is a completely free experience that can be a special addition to your vacation. Indeed, by car, bicycle or on foot you can go to the highest mountain , Sa Talaia, of Ibiza. To enjoy the beautiful view there on a clear day. Bring your own food and drinks (champagne is always a good idea), as nothing commercial has been set up here yet. Enjoy a special picnic or sunset at this still unique spot in Ibiza.

    3: Formentera

In addition to Ibiza having a lot of attractions, there is the neighboring island of Formentera that is also well worth a visit during your vacation. If you think Ibiza has beautiful beaches, it is even more special to also admire Formentera with its crystal clear sea water. Want to make it a memorable day? Rent a boat and explore this piece of paradise together.

    4: Dalt Vila

Commonly known, but we still want to be sure to put it in the list of sights in case you overlooked it. In fact, Ibiza town has a historic city center that has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Meters-high city walls protected the people from pirates and other invaders around the 16th century. Imagine yourself back in time by visiting Dalt Vila, the town you can often already see well as you drive toward Ibiza town. After walking into one of the gates, you find yourself in a maze of streets where you will find all kinds of cottages, museums, stores and restaurants. Enjoy the views as you walk up (quite a climb, but well worth it) and visit the 13th-century cathedral.

    5: Cave of Tanit

There are several caves in Ibiza. Are you well on your feet and do you like a bit of sportsmanship and adventure for exploring mythical places? Then be sure to visit Cova des Culleram near Cala San Vincente. It is estimated that this cave is about two thousand years old. Several archaeologists have made finds here showing that Romans and even Greeks lived on the island. The finds show that this cave fulfilled a religious role. Punic goddess Tanit was much in awe at the time, and people probably used this cave to say goodbye to deceased people and through rituals to give their families a carefree trip to the afterlife. Because the cave was widely used for parties, it is unfortunately shielded with fences, but that does not make this special place any less impressive. Take something small of yourself and make a wish to Goddess Tanit as you place the object in the cave. In Ibiza they say your wish will then come true. Coordinates: 39.083432, 1.580603
