A day of rain in Ibiza? Take a fun road trip!

So what should you do in Ibiza when rain is expected? We suddenly thought of a fun road trip with our rental car! The island is not big, so we were going to drive from the southwest to the northeast to the southeast in 1 day.

La Revista - Santa Gertrudis

Our first stop was Santa Gertrudis, a small village in the center of the island, with nice restaurants and galleries.

If you’re craving meat on the grill, stop by Can Caus!

From Santa Gertrudis we drove to downtown San Miguel. At a roadside café, we had a café con leche and tried Flaó, the most traditional cake from Ibiza. This is a kind of cheesecake baked with anise and mint.

Then we drove to San Miguel beach. Ibiza’s coasts are jagged with many coves and steep cliffs. We took a nice walk there to the secluded Cala des Moltons beach.

From Portinatx, we wanted to see the northernmost point of the island. We drove to Cala D’en Serra.

From Cala D’en Serra, we drove to Cala San Vicente. The weather began to change and the first rain clouds appeared.

On The Beach - Cala San Vicente

Should you be hungry, at beach club On The Beach they have great burgers, organic chicken satay with peanut sauce or the one and only Kwekkeboom croquettes with fries and at restaurant The Boat House they serve healthy vegetarian (or vegan) fusion cooking dishes, as well as delicious fresh fish, delivered that morning by the fishermen on Cala Vicente beach!

From Cala San Vicente, we drove to Bar Anita in San Carlos. After a few tapas, we wanted to try the Flaó again. Although the ingredients are the same, the cake tastes different in every place.

From San Carlos we drove to the store “100% Ibiza” just before you arrive in Santa Eularia. This is actually an odd place, almost a garbage dump, but sometimes you can find something nice there. The owner lives on the property with his cats and chickens.

Destino - Sant Josep

If you’re hungry in San Jose, at Raco Verd the dishes are inspired by Mexican cuisine, but you can also eat classic Spanish tapas. Local produce is organic, including wine and beer.

Starting at 5 p.m., Destino is open, a Spanish tapas bar with Moroccan influences. Here you can eat all kinds of beautiful small dishes outside on the terrace, or in the cozy space inside. In the summer on Friday nights, there is also couscous.

Near San José, you can go up Mount Sa Talaia, the highest point in Ibiza. Although it is a rough, bumpy road, we did it in our tough 4×4 rental car.

Then we went to Cala D’Hort, a great place to see Es Vedra, a famous landmark, a rock of limestone almost 400 meters high and surrounded by many myths and legends. Even without those legends, it is a special place to visit!
